Reports of the deadly Blue-Green Algae are being reported in Idaho's water ways again!
Health advisories have recently been issued for Thorn Creek (on border of Gooding, Lincoln and Camas counties),
Long Tom (Elmore), and Mountain Home (Elmore) reservoirs due to the presence of blue-green algae.
If you plan to visit or play on the water this summer in Idaho be sure to check this site for updates and keep an eye out yourself wherever you visit that has standing water. Not only is it a danger to humans but many Idaho families have lost their dogs to this toxic algae.
Remember: Only a fraction of all water bodies in Idaho are monitored due to limited physical and monetary resources. A water body with no advisory is not an indication that a bloom or bacterial outbreak is not present. You are your own best advocate when ensuring your safety, and that of your family and pets. Be aware and when in doubt, STAY OUT!
